Eli Jarra
Eli Jarra is a Visual Effects Supervisor, Cinematographer, and Educator withover 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Eli graduated from Specs Howard School of
Broadcast Arts with a degree in Broadcasting. Over the span of his VFX career,
Eli has contributed to over 150 projects, including feature films –
Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor: Ragnarok,
Captain America: Civil War, Oblivion, Black Panther,
Television series – FBI, Chicago Fire, Veep, True Detective, Big Little Lies,
Survivor, Mad Men, Mozart in the Jungle, Grey’s Anatomy, Eastwick, Smallville.
His contributions to Smallville earned him multiple VES nominations and two
VES Awards for Outstanding Compositing and Best Matte Painting. One of Eli's
proudest professional moments was working with Michael Jackson on the 'This Is
It' tour.
In 2020, Eli launched a film and television workshop, sharing his extensive
industry knowledge with aspiring creatives. He is deeply committed to fostering
the next generation of filmmakers, providing them with the expertise and
guidance needed to flourish as imaginative storytellers.
Eli's career reflects a commitment to innovation and excellence, from pioneering
the ACES color format on Universal Picture’s Oblivion to embracing the evolving
landscape of storytelling, using Virtual Reality. Inspired by visionaries like James
Cameron, Roger Deakins, Michel Gondry and MC Esher, he continues to explore
new creative avenues and share his expertise with the next generation film-
makers.
